Phd Dance Festival

Phd Dance Festival (2005)

The “Barefoot Dance Days” event, which we organized between June 8-18, 2005, was the first event where the works produced by the company were brought together collectively. It was realized through the rental of the “Taksim Stage,” which has since been demolished, the support of Dance Meeting, and the efforts of Gizem Bilgen.

Press release and program for 2005:

Çıplak Ayaklar Company transcends the boundaries of contemporary dance, bringing together original, interdisciplinary works;

Çıplak Ayaklar Company, comprised of young and professional dancers, is presenting a dynamic event for the first time this year, titled ‘PhD Barefoot’ (Performance – Movement – Dance Barefoot), from June 8th to 18th, 2005. This ten-day creative entertainment program will begin on Wednesday, June 8th at 8:30 PM with the performance of ‘Kalon Kakon’ at the Taksim Stage.

Before the performance of ‘Kalon Kakon’ by Çıplak Ayaklar Company, Kaya İlhan will be presented with a special ‘honorary award’ for his contributions to the development of modern dance in Turkey.

The ‘Ph. D. Barefoot’ event, aiming to create a lasting memory for the developing dance discipline in Turkey, will include repertoire performances as well as dance film screenings, talks on contemporary dance, technical and improvisation workshops, dance photographs, installation-video-performance and installation photography exhibitions.
